About

LCD-inspired segmented monospace typeface.

ION C is an experimental, modular constructed typeface primarily intended for display use consisting of 11 styles ranging from Thin to Black, with no contrast, natural width, and large x-height.

ION C supports Basic Latin and Extended Latin and covers over 100 languages. With total of 435 glyphs, it includes the default set of tabular lining figures along with superscript figures and subscript figures for advanced numerical setting. Additional features like stylistic set 1–3, discretionary ligatures, fractions, subscript figures, and ordinals allow for further customization and versatility.

ION C is based on the matrix of the classic 7-segment LCD display. Its ten styles are accompanied by a special 11th style called Cells containing filled or outlined containers and boxes with varying corner radii, that can be used for adding underlying layers to text or for building various standalone compositions.

ION C is a part of the ION collection, which consists of 3 families: condensed ION A, normal ION B, and wide ION C. In each family, the construction of styles Thin to Black allows for inclusion of diacritics and thus the styles support a wide range of languages. Because of their simplified construction, the three heaviest weights, named U1, U2 and U3, contain only the basic set of glyphs.
