Setup Grotesk je priamočiare geometrické sans-serifové písmo primárne určené pre použitie v nadpisoch, obsahujúc 8 štýlov v škále od Hair po Black, s nízkym kontrastom, veľkou šírkou a normálnou strednou výškou.
Podporovanými znakovými sadami písma Setup Grotesk sú základná latinka, rozšírená latinka, vietnamčina, cyrilika a gréčtina, vďaka čomu môže byť písmo použité vo viac ako 110 jazykoch. S celkovým počtom 1431 znakov, základnou sadou sú proporčné zarovnané číslice doplnené o proporčné skákavé číslice, tabulárne zarovnané číslice, tabulárne skákavé číslice, horné indexy, dolné indexy a zlomky pre pokročilú numerickú sadzbu. Funkcie ako štylistická sada 1–6, malé kapitálky, všetky malé kapitálky, kapitálové varianty a ordinály umožňujú ďalšie prispôsobenie a zvyšujú celkovú všestrannosť písma.
Dizajn písma Setup Grotesk nadväzuje na tradíciu geometrických bezpätkových písiem — má výrazne geometrickú konštrukciu s úzko uzavretými vnútornými priestormi a horizontálne zrezanými ukončeniami ťahov ako klasické písmo Avant Garde (1970), avšak vďaka ostrým napojeniam ťahov, vyššej variabilite proporcií a ďalším konštrukčným detailom sa jeho charakter približuje skôr k prístupnejšej Future (1927).
Setup Grotesk obsahuje dva konštrukčné varianty — ostré a zrezané napojenia ťahov.
