ION B je experimentálne, modulárne konštruované písmo primárne určené pre použitie v nadpisoch, obsahujúc 11 štýlov v škále od Thin po Black, s žiadnym kontrastom, malou šírkou a vysokou strednou výškou.
Podporovanými znakovými sadami písma ION B sú základná latinka a rozšírená latinka, vďaka čomu môže byť písmo použité vo viac ako 100 jazykoch. S celkovým počtom 434 znakov, základnou sadou sú tabulárne zarovnané číslice doplnené o horné indexy a dolné indexy pre pokročilú numerickú sadzbu. Funkcie ako štylistická sada 1–3, špeciálne ligatúry, zlomky, dolný index a ordinály umožňujú ďalšie prispôsobenie a zvyšujú celkovú všestrannosť písma.
Dizajn písma ION B vychádza z klasického 7-segmentového LCD displeja. Jeho desať štýlov je doplnených špeciálnym jedenástym štýlom nazvaným Cells (angl. bunky), ktorý obsahuje vyplnené alebo obrysové tvary a boxy s rôznymi polomermi rohov, ktoré možno použiť na pridávanie podkladových vrstiev pod text alebo na vytváranie rôznych samostatných kompozícií.
ION B je súčasťou väčšej ION kolekcie, ktorá pozostáva z troch písiem: zúžený ION A, ION B v bežnej šírke a široký ION C. V každom z nich umožňuje konštrukcia štýlov Thin až Black aj použitie diakritiky, vďaka čomu tieto štýly podporujú širokú škálu jazykov. Tri najtučnejšie štýly, nazvané U1, U2 a U3, obsahujú kvôli svojej zjednodušenej konštrukcii iba základnú sadu znakov.
